A statue of Captain Kirk that’s been in the making since 1985 is finally a reality. Back in 1985 a Riverside councilman Steve Miller, first contacted the creator of Star Trek, Gene Roddenberry to ask permission to erect the statue. Gene loved the idea and called “Inspiring”!
Riverside is the hometown of actor William Shatner, who first signed off on the idea of a statue of his iconic character, in the center of his hometown, in 2004. In over 30 years there’s been over $30,000 dollars in fan donations and over the weekend a life sized bronze statue of Captain James Tiberius Kirk in the hub of Riverside California.
