One person is dead following a two-vehicle collision in Township of Selwyn, near Peterborough, on Saturday afternoon.
Police say the crash happened around 4 p.m. Saturday on Selwyn Road between the 11th and 12th lines.
An SUV was travelling southbound when it crossed the centre line to avoid a northbound sedan that had entered the southbound lane.
“The sedan corrected itself and re-enetered the northbound lane resulting in a collision with a sport utility vehicle,” OPP stated on Monday morning.
The passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, OPP identified the victim as Leona Matthews, 66, of Selwyn Township.
The male driver of the sedan was transported to a Toronto trauma centre while female driver and male passenger in the SUV were treated in hospital
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the OPP.
