Hocus Pocus by Focus on the Vinyl Version

Focus is a Dutch progressive rock band. This is their only hit.

The song was originally recorded in 1971, but didn’t chart as a hit until the faster radio version was recorded and released in 1973. It went on to reach number 9 on charts the song got so big that the Cincinnati Reds used the song as the opening television credits during the 1973 season

This song came together very quickly when the band was at their recording studio. Drummer Pierre van der Linden started playing some two-bar fills, and guitarist Jan Akkerman came in with a tune. Focus frontman Thijs van Leer did something that had never done before in a rock song. He decided this would be a good time to yodel

It’s 6 minutes and 42 seconds long there are no actual lyrics, the song contains an accordion and one of the longest flute solo in rock history.
