Ace and The Kid Live and Loud in the Studio

What a great time last night in the studio with a great band.  Ace and the Kid crammed themselves and their acoustic guitars in the WOLF studios for an hour of great covers and originals. I found these guys on the stage at McThirsty’s on my birthday. I had heard about these guys from a few people telling me I had to check them out. When I walked into the small Irish pub the band was just about to get started, as they were introducing themselves to the crowd they looked over at me and said “Hey Kearnsy’s here and it’s his Birthday!” then they broke into a perfect cover of Stomp’n Tom’s Bud the Spud! I’m a huge Stomp’n Tom fan!

They entertained the crowd all night long with their cover tunes, their banter, and their incredibly creative originals. I had a blast enjoying these guys on my birthday, I laughed and sang all night! I hadn’t had that great of a time at McThirsty’s since my good friend “Jano” played that stage. I could tell right away, not only were theses guys doing this every “Taco Tuesday” at McThirsty’s, These guys were building a following because they got something special.

“Ace” aka Andrew is straight from “the rock” of Newfoundland. He made his way to Ontario when his father moved here for work. Armed with a degree in health and fitness, during his early adulthood he migrated Buckhorn then south to Peterborough where he and a buddy “Craig” started hanging around Trent University.

“The Kid” aka Adam was already at Trent and playing in a 3 piece band. Ace, his buddy “Craig” and the 3 piece joined forces for about 5 years called 5 shots of rage down. Realizing that they had an unstoppable need to play music together and that’s when Adam and Andrew became Ace & the Kid!
