We learned yesterday that ZZ Top bassist and vocalist Dusty Hill, passed away Tuesday night at the age of 72.

ZZ Top’s  Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard, paid tribute to Dusty in a brief statement yesterday

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston,” they said. “We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top.’ We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’ You will be missed greatly, amigo.”

Dusty Hill was bassist/vocalist with ZZ Top since 1969.  The lineup of ZZ Top (Dusty Hill, Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard) remained unchanged for over 50 yrs.

I was lucky enough to see ZZ Top when they came to Peterborough in 2015.

Here’s some fan shot videos from the 2015 ZZ Top concert at The Peterborough Memorial Centre thanks to YouTuber Captain IHateGooglePlus
