The rain barrels being offered for sale are reclaimed food grade barrels once used to transport fruits and vegetables. The Rain Barrel company that Sheet Seven has partnered with repurposes them as rain barrels, including refitting to connect to the overflow hose and other available accessories.

Using a rain barrel reduces water consumption and lowers a gardener’s water bills. There are a number of benefits using rainwater. When captured before it hits the ground, rainwater is free of pesticides, pollutants and chemicals and is naturally acidic. Rainwater can balance out the alkaline nature of soils.

Profits from the Sheet Seven Community Garden fundraiser go towards the ongoing expansion of the community garden, and supports the garden’s mission – Sheet Seven Community Garden endeavours to be a welcoming space that provides opportunities for local residents to garden and grow organic and sustainable crops.
