Gob at Musicfest

Peterborough Musicfest is thrilled to announce that legendary Canadian punk band Gob will perform for the first time ever at Del Crary Park, taking the Fred Anderson Stage on Saturday, July 19 at 8 PM — and best of all, it’s a FREE concert!
Perhaps you remember the rush of playing NHL 2004, your thumbs flying across the gamepad while Gob’s “I’ve Been Up These Steps” fueled your every move. Or maybe you first encountered their electrifying sound on the radio, captivated by their energetic and original brand of punk rock that would go on to inspire countless bands.

Formed in 1993, Gob made waves with early albums like Gob and Too Late… No Friends, before cementing their signature sound with How Far Shallow Takes You in 1998.

With the lineup featuring Tom Thacker (vocals), Theo Goutzinakis (guitar/vocals), Gabe Mantle (drums), and Craig Wood (bass), Gob rose to new heights.
Their 2001 album, The World According to Gob, earned a JUNO nomination for Best New Group and achieved Gold status, driven by hits like “That’s The Way,” “For The Moment,” and “No Regrets.” The standout single “I Hear You Calling” even snagged a JUNO nomination for Best Video in 2002.

Since then, Gob has continued to evolve. After lineup changes, including the addition of bassist Steven Fairweather (formerly of By A Thread), they delivered Apt. 13 — a record that retained their high-octane pop-punk spirit while showcasing a richer, more layered rock sound.

Beyond Gob, frontman Tom Thacker has also made his mark as the co-lead guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist for the multi-platinum rock group Sum 41, further showcasing
his musical versatility.

Don’t miss your chance to experience one of Canada’s most influential punk bands live and loud — under the stars, by the lake, and for FREE! Bring your friends, and your best singing
voice to the Fred Anderson Stage at Del Crary Park.

Get ready to hear Gob call — and we know you’ll be answering.

Admission to the show is FREE, thanks to the generous support of sponsors and community
partners. Come out and celebrate a night of pure Canadian rock under the stars!
