Saint John Ambulance MARCH BREAK Babysitting/Home-Alone Classes
Event Details: “Parents: Are you looking for educational, yet fun, things for your children to do during March Break? If so, Saint John Ambulance, Peterborough Branch, will be hosting “Babysitting Basics”, an award-winning, one-day Babysitting/Home-Alone class, for children on the following days: March 8th, 13th, 14th, and 15th. Class times will be 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This course was created for the 10-to-14-year-old age group and was designed to teach babysitting, leadership, first-aid, and home-alone skills in a fun and informative way. This course is also ideal for students who may have to look
after themselves for short periods because they arrive home from school a little before their parents come home from work. Students learn how to care for themselves, infants, toddlers, and older children, which questions to ask
parents, how to give first aid and CPR, what to do in emergencies and more. Activity book sessions, role-playing and hands-on practical first-aid exercises teach essential life-saving skills and also build confidence. Each student will receive a copy of a “Babysitting Basics” book, and, upon successful completion of the course, a St. John Ambulance babysitter certificate.
St. John Ambulance also offers first-aid and CPR classes for older teens and adults of all ages. These first-aid classes are held every business week, including during the March Break (March 11-12), and every weekend, including
March 16-17.
Please call 705-745-0331, or visit sja.ca, for more information and/or to register for an upcoming class.”
